Life is Beautiful
That’s right, how many times have you heard that one? It’s true that our eyes reveal much about ourselves to others, therefore it’s imperative that we keep them looking sparkling and bright. And equally important are our eyebrows because these frame our eyes and enhance their beauty.
I like to keep the shape of my eyebrows natural, yet neat. I’m blessed to have gotten beautiful arches in them from my mum, so I can keep the maintenance of my eyebrows to the minimum.
Every once in a while, I take out my tweezer and proceed to rid of loose strands and sometimes also use an eyebrow shaver to remove my inconspicuous unibrow.
The following is a great video showing how you can shape your eyebrows nicely.
I like the step-by-step instructions and the helpful hints. Enjoy!

Millions of people around the world suffer from eczema, a form of rash on the skin that can seriously impair your everyday life. I should know – I have atopic dermatitis (a common form of eczema) and although over the years, I’ve learnt better ways to manage it, I still continue to battle it at a ripe grand age of 30. That’s right, babies aren’t the only ones to have eczema. There is no known cure for eczema and many continue to suffer from it well into adulthood.
So what triggers eczema? To be honest, I’ve been told by many people of the varied elements that cause a flare-up. Most of us are very much affected by extreme changes in weather and harsh chemicals in detergent and soaps. Some foods can trigger a serious bout of rash too – for me, shelling seafood or chopping garlic leaves me scratching and bleeding till weeks later. Read the rest of this entry »

The 3-step skin care does not constitute using cosmetics. Instead it uses only what nature has offered us.
That is why I encourage everyone to adopt this as part of their daily skin care regime.
It is important that you do all 3 steps in succession to derive maximum benefits. The 3-step skin care regime encompasses cleansing, treatment and moisturising.
As you probably already know, our skin is alive and consists of living cells that breathe and emit impurities. As such, I advise that you do not overdo the cleansing part, or apply thick layers of treatment creams as this can block the pores. Read the rest of this entry »
Here’s an ULTRA easy way to whip up your very own facial cleanser right in your kitchen in just 3 minutes!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup oatmeal (if you prefer, you can run it through a dry blender to make it finer)
2 tbsp plain yoghurt
Method:
Mix both ingredients well.
Apply onto your face with fingers using gentle circular motion, avoiding the eye area.
Leave it on for 5 -7 minutes.
Rinse off.
This is an informative video that talks about the different types of water available.
Before this, I’ve never quite been able to place a finger on how much water one should consume in a day. After some researching, I’ve come to a conclusion that there is no fixed number that everyone should adhere to. Rather, you are likely to be ‘informed’ by your body about how much water you should be feeding it. Typically, the amount of water you consume should be proportionate to your body weight, your diet, and more importantly, your daily activity level (do you lead an active or sedentary life?).
If you’re someone who eats plenty of vegetables and fruits, good for you! Most of these contain water on their own and you can rely a little (just a little) on them for the liquid that your body needs. Still, you should be drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water to make sure you remain sufficiently hydrated.
Do you know that by the time you feel thirsty, your body is already dehydrated? Therefore, you should be drinking water at intervals instead of waiting for thirst to kick in before reaching out for that tumbler.
So what’s all this fuss about drinking enough water? Read the rest of this entry »
I could hardly believe my ears when a friend told me about this concoction. It was so SIMPLE and and INEXPENSIVE, yet a quick check on the Internet revealed just how effective this mixture was.
Baking soda is a good exfoliant for the skin since it is not coarse, and can help to reduce acne problems because of its anti-fungal properties. Those with dry skin will find this scrub extremely helpful , and if you have normal or dry skin, remember to moisturise generously afterwards.
I am all ready to try it and I promise to share with you my results afterwards. Meanwhile, here’s how to make and use this scrub:
INSTRUCTIONS: Mix 3 parts of baking soda to one part water to make a paste. Massage all over body in gentle circular motion. Rinse off.
That’s it!
Here’s to smooth and glowing skin!
Update: I DID try out the baking soda body scrub and it works GREAT!
I recommend it to anyone who wants a fuss-free scrub that leaves you with satin-smooth skin. I also mixed it with my shampoo to rid of residue from hair care products, and once when I was out out facial scrub, I used the baking soda as an exfoliator. Just be careful not to rub too hard on your skin.
W ith some parts of the world experiencing unprecedented hot weather,
it is difficult to avoid prespiring yourself silly. I’m one of those who do not sleep in an air-conditioned room, and some nights I wake up drenched in sweat. Apart from showering regularly, it is also important that we keep ourselves smelling great, especially our underarms. It just makes the world a much nicer and comfortable place to live in. (Ever gotten stuck in an overcrowded train with someone’s underarm shoved to your face? I have.)
I was looking for some resources that I could use in my personal grooming workshop for a class of boys when I came across The Healthy Deodorant that is 100% natural and safe. I did not recommend this to the boys because I did not think they would be taken in by the pretty packaging but personally, I’d like to give it a try.
Unlike normal ones that contains chemicals, The Healthy Deodorant from Lavanila is made from ingredients such as Goji Berry and Japanese honeysuckle to ensure safe use and long-lasting effectiveness. The product is available online at Sephora.
After lunch today, we took the train back home, and as usual, I was engaged in people-watching since it’s Sunday and most people are dressed in their best.
One of them was a lady in her forties who looked decent enough except that her toenails were protruding waaayy…. beyond her sandals.
Here’s how it is – you can have ANY length or shape for your fingernails, but for the love of God, please trim those toenails STRAIGHT across and Heaven forbid that they should ever cut anyone within a foot’s range from you.
I don’t know who taught these people pedicure skills but clearly, they haven’t been taught well. Here’s how your toenails should be cut to prevent infections and ingrown nails:

I am honored to share this blog with you and hope that you will stay a while to read more of what I've offered here.
